Will Damascus Be Destroyed?

President Bashar al-Assad and the First Lady of Syria
We have seen two countries, Iraq and Libya, have their leaders killed and cities destroyed by the war machine of the New World Order. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad knows that he is next, and outside infiltrators and internal rebels have been ravaging selected cities. He has had the diplomatic and military support from Iran, Russia, and China - obviously disenchanted by what is taking place.

Just as we saw take place in the other two Middle Eastern countries, U.S. Republican Presidential candidates want to take a more active part and want to lend their support to the idea of arming the Syrian opposition in its fight to oust the embattled Syrian president Bashar al-Assad.  PressTV reports the following about statements made at the Presidential Debates:

Newt Gingrich "boasted that American allies were covertly helping to destroy the Syrian government.
"There are plenty of Arab-speaking groups that would be quite happy. There are lots of weapons available in the Middle East," he said.

The comments came after the Obama administration announced that the US will consider military assistance to armed groups fighting the Syrian government.

“If we can't get Assad to yield to the pressure that we are all bringing to bear, we may have to consider additional measures,” said US State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland, but she declined to elaborate on what those measures might be."

Will These Actions Fulfill Bible Prophecy?
What does the Bible say about the Destruction of Damascus?
"The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap. The cities of Aroer [present-day Jordan] are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid. The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts." Isaiah 17:1-3
We'll have to see how this works out.
